There’s a saying this season that goes something like this: April showers bring May flowers, and May flowers bring...the Bayfield in Bloom Festival! Now is the best time to get out and enjoy the beauty of Bayfield. Over 47,000 daffodils and wildflowers welcome visitors to the area, along with dozens of activities and garden parties through June 11. And, that’s not all that’s going on. Don’t miss the annual Morel Mushroom Festival in Muscoda this weekend (May 19-20). We know what you’re thinking — a festival for fungus? Yes indeed. Sample the area’s famous mushrooms; fried, baked, and anyway you can possibly imagine. Have other plans? Tell us what you’re doing in Wisconsin this weekend on our Facebook page.

2012 is the Year of the Veteran and Wisconsin’s tourism industry has stepped up to honor America’s hereos. While many members of the industry continually honor vets, 2012 has been set aside as an entire year of “thanks.” With Memorial Day weekend just around the corner, find special promotions all over the state, including discounted stays and bed and breakfasts, campgrounds, and museums, as well as dozens of special events. ¬†Use our Year of the Veteran page to find year-round specials and travel recommendations catered toward vets and their families.
