Greetings,
As we turn the page to a new year, we leave behind the old way of doing business. As we have heard in the media over and over, businesses are searching for ways to do more with less. For us this has meant taking a critical look at all of our programs and looking at how we can help our tourism industry succeed and continue to be a core strength of Wisconsin's economy. Keep reading for more details on enhancements to the Joint Effort Marketing and Advertising Co-Op programs as well as other new initiatives that have been developed to drive the needle on tourism. Throughout this coming year, we will continue to look at our work with fresh eyes, to serve you the best way we can.

Old Man Winter is Hotter in Wisconsin
A playful twist on a different kind of Wisconsin Original is at the center of our winter advertising campaign. It's true that Old Man Winter is a familiar character, but here in Wisconsin he's different. It's clear in our new ads that he does things his own way. And the message to our travelers is, "You can too."
The campaign incorporates Old Man Winter into every place the consumer is; whether it's through TravelWisconsin.com, public relations outreach, social media vehicles or online marketing. We invite you to view all the elements on TravelWisconsin.com's Old Man Winter page – including the new Travel Wisconsin Facebook page – and see how we are promoting your winter travel opportunity.

Funding Available to Discover Your Destination's Brand
What is your point-of-difference? Find out with the help of a newly created category under the Destination Marketing grant. The grant category can now help fund an in-depth study that will unearth your brand or revisit your existing one. This is the first time Joint Effort Marketing funding is available for campaign development. In addition, the funding can be used for both leisure travel and niche markets such as group travel, meetings and conventions and sports marketing. Detailed information about this new opportunity and application materials are available on the JEM Grant Program page on our industry website.
Great Prices, Great Exposure from Updated Co-Op Program
You spoke and we listened. The Co-op Advertising Program has been revised based on your input and with an eye on the latest trends in advertising. As always, the co-op program provides tremendous exposure for a terrific value, and now it offers more online opportunities. Even more, a first time discount to cover entry rates is now available. See why you need to be advertising with us.
Public Hearing for Regional Tourist Information Center Grants
We invite you to attend a public hearing on proposed rules to award grants to non-profit tourism organizations operating regional Tourist Information Centers. The hearing will be held in the first floor Human Resources Conference Room at the Department of Tourism offices on February 1, 2010 at 10:00 AM. This is not an informational meeting but an opportunity for the tourism industry to provide input in the grant program. More information about the hearing is available online or if you would like to submit written comments in advance, please contact Laura Muenich at 608-261-8764. |
